HOW TO GET A FOG-RESISTANT FIT

Fogging is one of the most common issues with high performance eyewear. More than anything, fogging problems can be mitigated by choosing glasses that are big enough to allow a significant amount of airflow behind the lens. A snug-fitting pair is much more likely to fog than one that fits correctly. In addition to finding the right size, adjustable nose pads are an excellent anti-fog feature because they allow you to position your eyewear the appropriate distance from your face. If you want the ultimate fog protection, you will combine these tips with our antiFOG lenses.

LENS COVERAGE

Airflow is of critical importance but so is lens coverage. For many, sunlight isn’t the only thing to protect against. Wind, dust and other hazards are considerations for many people—especially those who ride bikes—so please make sure that the lens is big enough to effectively block all of the elements. If you want the best protection, look for a big lens in a frame that draws sufficient airflow across your face, but not so much that the breeze carries in the nasty stuff.

COMFORT

Ultimately, you want to forget you’re wearing them. We encourage you to buy the right pair at an authorized Ryders dealer because the best way to find the right frame is by trying them on. Some people like customizable components such as adjustable nose pads or temple tips (included on select models). They’re not only for comfort and stability, they’re also used to combat fogging because they allow you to angle and position your eyewear the appropriate distance from your face.

HELMET COMPATIBILITY

Visit an authorized Ryders dealer and try on the glasses. Are they comfy? Now that you have your helmet on, are they still comfy? Not everyone buys RYDERS for helmet sports, but if that’s what you’re up to, helmet compatibility is critical.

Find a pair of glasses that won’t give you any interference. Straps and other retention devices should be considered. Airflow is also affected once your helmet is on, so try to make sure that your glasses have adequate breathing room when worn with a helmet. Both airflow and helmet interference problems can be combated with adjustable temple tips. They allow you to angle the frame for ventilation, and can be manually formed around retention devices.

ANTI-SLIP PARTS

All RYDERS TR90 frames have anti-slip, hydrophilic nose pads. If your past experience with eyewear is that they slip down your nose, these pads will make a huge difference. If you want extra stability, look for frames that also have hydrophilic temple tips. For the next level of slip-resistance, choose a model with adjustable components.

SIZING

The sizes listed on this site should help you choose your fit, though it’s difficult if you don’t have a baseline. Unfortunately, eyewear sizing is complicated—it’s not just about frame widths and heights. Lens angles (pantoscopic tilt), width of nose bridge, height of nose bridge and length of temple tips all play important roles in how a product will fit on your face. There is no simple measurement that can be taken to ensure the proper fit. This is why we encourage you to buy the right pair at an authorized Ryders dealer where you can try them on. If this isn’t an option for you, you can look at our sizing and measurements to get a general idea of what might be the right fit.

100% UV400 Protection

All of our lenses block 100% of UVA, UVB, and UVC rays and harmful, high energy light to 400nm. These rays are a leading cause of cataracts, skin cancer and wrinkles around the eyes—all great reasons to block them out.

It really doesn't matter how many cutting-edge technologies are included in a lens, if it fogs up it's all for naught. RYDERS high-quality antiFOG will stave off condensation so you can enjoy all of the other benefits of the lens without the hazardous distraction of fog.

colourBOOST

Boosts the most important tones, accelerating and improving recognition of some colours by 20%. Its unique chemistry dramatically enhances your perception of primary colours, providing faster colour recognition, more defined colours, and a vibrant, crystal clear view of the world around you.

Hydrophobic + Oleophobic Coating

An altogether misleading name, this coating isn't nearly as scared of water as water is of the coating. In fact, water runs away at first contact, leaving clear lines of sight that are free from droplets and water marks. The Oleophobic characteristics repel dirt and grease, making the lenses very easy to clean.

MLV MIRROR

NXT

Developed over a period of 12 years, NXT is an Essilor Sun Solution proprietary performance polymer which was originally developed for fighter jet canopies and the windshields of military helicopters. When cast as a lens it provides extreme impact resistance and superior optics.

Scratch-Resistant Coating

We apply a scratch-resistant coating to all of our lenses. Though this process makes the surface of the lens considerably harder than the base lens material, it’s impossible to make the lenses completely scratch proof (short of making them from diamonds) so please care for them properly as they may still scratch under certain conditions.

VARIA

With its fast-acting, wide-range photochromic technology, the VARIA lens responds very quickly and reliably, no matter what the temperature. In addition, it actually changes the colour of the lenses throughout their range instead of simply getting lighter or darker. This allows them to shift from a tint that has advantages in the dark, to a different, more suitable tone when conditions are bright.

Frame Technology

Adjustable Nose Pads + Temple Tips

Adjustable nose pads and temple tips allow you to customize the fit of your eyewear for comfort and stability. These components are also used for fine-tuning the amount of airflow behind the lens to keep your face cool and combat fogging.

Grilamid TR90

Hydrophilic [anti-slip] nose pads are an important feature to look for in performance eyewear. Hydrophilic temple tips give that extra little bit of grip that can come in handy in many situations.   3. Temple arms Of the Incline are much longer than the Seventh, Why?

    The Measurements of the Incline Compare Closely to the Seventh except that the temples are 40mm longer, 160mm versus 120mm. Why is that? I am accustomed to eyewear with much shorter temples like the seventh. Neither of the 2 local dealers have the Fyre collection and I have only been able to try the Seventh. The seventh is a good fit for me but i hesitate over the longer temple arms of the incline.

  4. Which is the better lens for an open area Landscape with winter/snow conditions?

    I prefer a lens that offers increased contrast like the Yellow – Brown With Gold MLV but I find the Pink – Purple with Red MLV to be appealing. Would the pink – purple with red MLV highlight the contrast in winter like conditions of snow and ice? Would it be better than the yellow – brown with gold MLV in these conditions? I realize that once the sun strengthens in the hotter months of the year, the yellow – brown with gold MLV offers the greater range in variable light transition. When sunlight is strongest in the hotter months of the year, the pink – purple with red MLV would only be useful on overcast days. What is the rationale in offering the pink – purple with red MLV lens?

      The Pink-Purple will definitely highlight contrast in bright winter like environments. The darkness of all of the FYRE lenses in their darkest states are about equal (within a percentage point or two). Pink-Purple is the darkest FYRE lens, when in its lightest state. Pink-purple’s 49%-19% VLT is optimal for medium to bright conditions. The higher the percentage, the lighter the lens tint. Does that help?   5. Replaced Oakley Jawbones with Incline

    When I looked ahead to the lower light level of late fall, winter and early spring, I was not looking forward to once again constantly changing the OAKley lenses for the respective light condition of the time and day. I also found that my oakley prism trail lens that i use in my m2 frames were often times allowing too much light or not enough light. Consequently, the photochromic fyre lenses attracted my attention and in comparison to the oakley photochromic lens that was available to me, i thought that the fyre lenses had more advantage. in comparison, two of the 3 fyre lenses have a broader range of transition than does the oakley lens that i considered. i know from experience that my oakley lenses will fog and the fyre lenses minimizes this possibility. also, the visual acuity of the fyre lens, being made from nxt material, is likely better than the oakley lens. evidently, nxt lenses have a visual acuity that rivals glass. glass is considered to be the best material and polycarbonate lags somewhat behind. I have sold my jawbone frames and lenses (to a collector) and i have not been disappointed with my purchase of two incline models, the one with the yellow-brown lens and the other with the pink-purple lens. my first reaction with the incline model was the same reaction that i had when i purchased the oakley m2 – what a lovely picture window to look through! i have found that the yellow-brown lens and the pink-purple lens to be very pleasant to look through. in the past, i have found a yellow lens to be somewhat garish in the colour tone that it gave subjects. this is not the case at all with the yellow-browns lens. this lens adapts to very low light conditions and i have used it satisfactorily at the end of daylight time. the pink-purple lens is beautiful. for whatever reason, my first reaction with this lens was that it offered a view that is just as good if not better than my oakley prizm road lens and that is saying quite a lot given the positive reputation of the prizm road lens. what i am going to say next is not intended as a criticism but simply to point out the fyre lenses may be considered for category 3 light conditions however it only covers the upper range of category 3. despite what people may wish, there is no one sunglass eyewear that can do all things. for people that need more light protection in category 3 conditions, they may want to supplement the fyre collection with other eyewear including other ryder models. in my case, i accidentally discovered a bolle eyewear whose lens has a photochromic transition range of 9%-27%. this complements the 17%-77% and between the two eyewear covers an unbelievable range of light conditions. I certainly recommend the fyre collection eyewear.

    Have had these sunglasses for about 3 weeks now. Simply amazing, i got the ones with the yellow lens, perfect for road and mountain biking (i’ve done both already with them). Started one ride in the dark clouds, ended quite sunny and it was never too bright or dark for my eyes. They don’t fog up! have ridden in rain, up hills and typically my Oakley’s will fog up these have not. The arms don’t INTERFERE with either of my helmets either. Can’t recommend them enough, wish I had bought them sooner. I have a big head and these fit great (60cm helmet size), great coverage, no tears going downhill on road or mountain.

    I left A REVIEW OF MY ROAM GLASSES. IN THAT REVEIW I TALKED ABOUT HOW I LOVE THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THEM, BUT I THINK THEY ARE UGLY. THE INCLINE IS MORE MY STYLE FOR WHEN I’M NOT RIDING. ALSO I LIKE THE YELLOW LENSE I NEVER WEAR SUN GLASSES BECAUSE THEY SEEM TO MAKE THE WORLD GRAY. SO I WANTED TO TRY THE PINK LENSE WITH THE INCLINE STYLE. HOWEVER I DO NOT LIKE THE COLOR OF THE PINK LENSE FRAME. SO I WENT WITH THE GRAY LENSE. i LOVE THEM. i LOVE THE WAT THEY FIT AND LOOK. ALTHOIGH THE VIEW THROUGH THEM IS NOT AS LIVELY AS THE YELLOW I WAS NOT EXPECTING THEM TO BE. i WEAR THEM EVERY DAY. EVERYONE ASK ME ABOUT THEM. THERE IS ONLY ON SHOP REMOTELY CLOSE TO ME THAT HAS RYDER EYEWEAR. ON YOUR LEFT CYCLES IN KENTUCKY. SO THEY STAND OUT ON THE TRAIL. NOW I’M SITTING HERE WHEN I SHOULD BE WORKING TRYING TO TALK MYSELF OUT OF BUYING THE PINK PAIR AFTER RECIEVING AN EMAIL ABOUT THE 24 HOUR BOGO SPECIAL. WHAT A SUCKER I AM. LOL
