Website: www.cape-epic.com

The total distance of 658 km, 13,530 m. of climbing, four consecutive days of riding 100 km, 600+ teams… I guess they call The Absa Cape Epic a “Tour de France of mountain biking” for a reason.

Held in South Africa, this race is open for both professional riders and amateurs. Don’t be fooled by the “amateurs” part though: in 2018 almost a fifth of the participants didn’t make it to the finish line.

Cape Epic is a team race. An average of 600 + duos take part in the race annually. All duos will have to stick together until the end of the race, otherwise their finish will be disqualified.

Entry team fees for 2020 are USD $6,290. The price includes tent-village living, showers, medical support, bike cleaning services, and mechanical support.

Cape Epic is exciting, it is world renowned and, well, it is EPIC. Made to test you or break you, this race definitely worth traveling for!
